THE SECRET LIFE OF DADS PODCAST

Dads. The great unsung heroes of life. They do come in for a disproportionate amount of stick from many quarters. Some deserved. Some less so.
Once upon a time, Britain was considered to be the workshop of the world, exporting machinery and widgets to all corners of the globe. These days, we tend to rely more on our creative industries to boost the balance of payments. One of Britain’s most successful exports around the world is the Peppa Pig cartoon. But as far as we can tell, the storyline of every single one of the 394 episodes of Peppa Pig ever released is built around Daddy Pig declaring that he is “a bit of an expert at this”. He then promptly goes on to screw up whatever it is he claims to be an expert in. This Dad humiliation concept has such universally global appeal, at the last count Peppa had been sold to over 100 countries and translated into 40 languages.

But, around the time of Father’s Day, it’s the moment in the year when Dads can take a brief sojourn from taking hourly grenades. And we can all celebrate just how great they are. I mean without them, who’s gonna put the bins out? And [whilst shaking head and sighing] express incredulity that you don’t know how to change a car tyre? Have no fear everyone else, normal service will be resumed after 15th June.

Great Friends of Aubin are Mathew Carter and Lawrence Price. Matthew is a content creator and presenter. Lawrence is a fitness professional and model. Together, they are the handsome and amusing co-hosts of the Secret Life of Dads podcast.

They started the pod because they’d both recently become Dads and realised what a minefield they’d stepped into. Totally unprepared for the endless booby traps which lay ahead, they thought they’d go out and find out a whole lot more about fatherhood. And more importantly, how not to screw it up.

On their investigative journey of exploration into parenthood, they found there was a lot going on for the mums, but not a lot for the Dads. So, saw an opportunity to be a sort of spearhead for the Dads. What’s clever about the pod, is that all the things which Matthew and Lawrence come up against daily in their Dad adventures, they go and find an expert to talk to about it. As well as often being deeply amusing, it’s always informative and often really quite touching.

Strong recommendation from us for a follow and a listen. Even if you’re not a Dad, you are a son / daughter / wife / mother / bewildered bystander etc. So, if nothing else it’ll amuse and inform.
