At the beginning of the design process for the store, we looked back in the archives at our original Aubin store concepts. We wanted to celebrate everything we loved from those early days but ensuring it felt relevant as a retail space in 2021. The inside of the shop is mainly dressed with vintage furniture and fittings. Everything in the store has had a previous life and those stories are told through the patina of each piece.

We have used vintage tin tiles on the ceiling and reclaimed wood floorboards to form the foundations for all the furnishing pieces. The main table is made using drying boards from a pottery, the trestle legs from a junk yard. The statement shelving unit is from a factory closed many years ago. There is a simplicity in each piece we’ve chosen, it’s the curation that tells the story…

The exterior of the building harks back to shop fronts of the past, the black and white with brass and gold leaf epitomises this. The reclaimed wood front door and weathered wooden window frames sets the front of the shop off and celebrates the authentic nature of these materials. The Aubin tiled front step and reclaimed brass letter box add to the detail which we hope you spot and love as much as we do.
